Albacore tuna head, spine & blood, cheesecloth, squid ink & hibiscus- 2026

$1,800.00

This one is layered and extremely complex in ways I never anticipated. I wanted to create an abstract stormy/underwater scene, so mission accomplished there. But the real magic is in the “sky” or top portion of the canvas. The tea froze, cracked, and dried with those lines intact, appearing almost like lightning.

This piece happened to dry during one of the coldest weeks of winter, making it all the more special. If I waited even a few more days it wouldn’t have turned out this way. The hyper specific place and time depicted by this art style continues to inspire me most.

Another pleasant surprise was the blood, which I didn’t expect to provide such a prominent color in the piece. It goes perfectly with the blues and black. This is probably in my top five of all time.
