Frozen carbonized bones, squid ink, pig blood & corked red wine - 2026

$2,000.00

I arranged bone charcoal, made from beef bones (from previous projects) burned overnight, in a sheet tray, covered it with water, and froze it overnight. I removed the frozen block of bones from the tray, painted the underside with squid ink, and allowed it to melt through the pig blood and wine on canvas overnight at about 55°F. I mention the temperature because it greatly affects the trajectory and, in turn, the composition of the piece. This will forever be one of my favorite techniques and outcomes.
